Here's the process we use to maintain 100-200+ new variations per week across our portfolio without scaling headcount: Step 1: Identify your winners. Pull any creative that's been profitable for 7+ days at meaningful spend. These are your seeds — everything grows from here. Step 2: Feed the winning ad copy into Claude with this framework — generate variations across 5 dimensions, 4 each: hook swaps (different opening, same body), angle shifts (same benefit, different emotional lens), proof swaps (different evidence type), format changes (listicle, question-led, story-led, testimonial-style), audience pivots (different demographic, same offer). Step 3: That's 20 copy variations from one winner. Now multiply visually. Take each copy variation and generate 3-5 image versions through Midjourney or GetHookd. Different backgrounds, different product angles, different visual hooks. Step 4: Feed the best-performing copy into Higgsfield or Veo for video variations. Same script, different visual treatment. AI-generated UGC. Different presenters. Different settings. Step 5: Launch all variations in your testing campaign at $50-100/day per ad set. Within 3-5 days you know which combinations work. Winners move to your main Advantage+ campaign. The ratio that works: 80% iterations on proven winners, 20% net-new concepts. I spent 6 hours testing Midjourney v8 against every major image model. Conclusions: 1. v8 is better when you use a profile 2. If you push --s to higher levels, you start to get the same person 3. v8 in RAW mode is subpar 4. v8 lacks fidelity What do you think? Prompt below:

Things I found useful with V8 alpha (from my own experience): - use many different profiles with different moodboards (even if the combination makes no sense). Somehow, when I use 5–7 profiles + a couple of moodboards, results get much better - stylization 1000 - don’t be afraid of chaos, anything between --c 10 and --c 100 - run many iterations and be patient V8 is still very far from perfect, but I trust they’ll refine it. Aesthetically, nothing else comes close to Midjourney so far

Yesterday @javilopen asked what happened to Midjourney. Usually if a tool disappoints I move on and keep it to myself, but I was scrolling through Midjourney's official Twitter account and something stopped me. They were implying that long prompts are usually "𝐠𝐩𝐭𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐩". I had to sit with that for a second because they are sitting at version 8 of their model, prompt length and adherence is still limited, faces are still distorted, no Omni feature in V8, text accuracy is still a problem and they removed relax mode so you are spending your credits on bad outputs. And still the users are the problem who are using too long prompts? It is 2026. We have Nano Banana Pro and NB2 with enormous context length, we have Black Forest Labs Flux2 Klein with text rendering running on consumer hardware, we have image editing models capable of taking 14 input images and now the problem is the user who wants to use longer than 1300 characters to control the output? I'm not writing against Midjourney itself, but more about this tweet. It's a great tool for quick visualizing, but since V6 they are falling behind while even open source, free models are catching up. AI is great at removing the blank page. It's useless at replacing your taste. AI gave me something good enough to hide behind. And I let it. This is what that actually looks like. I built Bogormen, a reading app for Danish kids, using @vibecodeapp_ . Fast scaffolding, working RevenueCat subscriptions, core logic in days instead of weeks. I was impressed with myself. Then I needed to design it. I tried @variantui. It generated a direction quickly. Colorful, friendly, clearly made for kids. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. The pressure of wanting to ship made me skip the branding step. So I just restyled the fonts and colors, found an illustration pack on ui8 that felt playful enough, and launched. The app worked. The design was fine. After launch, the rose-tinted glasses came off fast. The kids were using the app every day, so I was exposed to it constantly. The pastel palette read as generic and "AI slob" to some. Nothing about it said Bogormen specifically. It could have been any children's app built in the last two years. I used AI to fill a space before I knew what I wanted to put there. I mistook speed for progress. The tools did their job. I hadn't done mine yet. The problem was I hadn't drawn anything in years and didn't have the budget to hire an artist. So I went back to something I remember being fond of - an old Cinema 4D design had a clay and fondant aesthetic I'd always liked. This time I used Midjourney for visual exploration, Nano Banana for fine-tuning, Kling for short animations. After a long time browsing without inspiration, a fox showed up in a Midjourney session and it clicked immediately. Warm, characterful, specific. A mascot instead of a placeholder. I rebuilt most of the app. The new version isn't finished. But for the first time I have a foundation I'm proud of and a visual direction I can extend to flyers, videos, and social posts. The fox works everywhere. The blob creatures worked nowhere. The lesson isn't that AI design tools are bad. @vibecodeapp_ is genuinely great for scaffolding. @variantui is great for early exploration and iterations. The illustration pack wasn't the problem either. The problem was that I shipped before I had made the real creative decision. AI made it easy to do that because it always gives you something. Something that looks finished. Something you can ship. You can use AI to skip the blank page. You cannot use it to skip the moment where you decide what you actually believe in. That part is still yours. And if you skip it, you will know. Maybe not on launch day. But thirty days later when your kids are using the app every day and you can't stop noticing everything that's wrong with it.

I hate the idea of AI replacing the creativity in design work, but I definitely think there's place for it. For example, I spent years explaining concepts to founders, hoping they'd see what I see. "Imagine the flowers sway as the camera pans out." No amount of explaining is as effective as just showing it. For a recent project, I was able to build my vision using @floraai and I could see how the founders reacted to it. They were sold. The static image, funnily enough, is done in Midjourney but adding the motion in flora elevated it immediately. AI is fun for sure and there's a massive use for it, but please don't let it take creative control from you.

David Holz from @Midjourney sparked an interesting debate about diffusion versus autoregression in AI. His argument: most researchers broadly agree that autoregression, like GPT-style models, makes sense when memory bandwidth is cheap, while diffusion makes sense when FLOPS are cheap. And the future of compute increasingly looks FLOPS-heavy. Memory scaling is hard. FLOPS scaling is easier. So why not lean fully into diffusion, as Midjourney does? I've been testing Midjourney v8 in its alpha release this week. I know there've been mixed reactions so far, and I understand why; not everything is landing yet. But this caught my eye. Look at the tear. Many AI models have struggled with tears but, here, it catches the light the way a real tear would. And the redness around the eye, the overall expression and framing of the face: I think it works well. Have you had any images with v8 that have really worked for you?

Playing around with Midjourney v8-- namely trying out our "Female Cyberpunk Assassin w/ Short Red Hair" in a few different styles. Lots of hot takes on MJv8a wonk-- and, sure I'm getting it too-- but I think the important part to remember: It's an Alpha. This is pretty typical MJ. Alpha is always the playground to get adjusted to the new model. I'm gonna keep messing with it to see what I can pull out.
