Profile header design

Make a 1500×500 X banner that says what you do

A banner is the largest thing on your profile, and most people leave it blank or use a stock photo. This maker builds a text-first header: a headline, a supporting line, an optional footer and an accent color on a dark background, sized at X's recommended 1500×500 pixels. The text is centred inside the area X shows on every device, clear of the phone crop and your profile photo.

A safe-area overlay shows where phones cut the sides and where your avatar sits, and the PNG you download at 1x, 2x or 4x matches the preview exactly, without the guides. Everything renders in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and there's no account to create.

How it works

How to make a Twitter banner

Write first, then design.

01

Write the headline

Up to 80 characters stating what you do or who you help. This is the line people will read.

02

Add supporting text

Use up to 140 characters for proof, a product name or what you post about, and an optional 40-character footer shown at the bottom centre.

03

Pick an accent color and check the safe area

Choose a color that matches your avatar or brand, then use the safe-area overlay to confirm the text sits comfortably inside the visible area.

04

Export and upload

Download the PNG, then on X go to Edit profile and replace the header image. Check it on mobile before you're done.

Responsible use

Design for the crop

X shows the full header on desktop but cuts about 300 px from each side on phones, and your profile photo covers part of the lower left. This maker keeps your text centred inside the area that stays visible, and the Show safe area overlay marks those zones in the preview. X can change its layout, so check your profile on a phone after uploading. The design includes a small Xholic AI label. Xholic AI is not affiliated with X Corp.

FAQ

Twitter banner maker FAQ

Sizes, cropping and uploading.

What size is a Twitter banner?

1500×500 pixels, a 3:1 ratio. This maker exports at exactly that size, or 2x and 4x for sharper text.

Why does my banner look cropped on mobile?

On phones X keeps the header 200 px tall but only as wide as the screen, so roughly 300 px is cut from each side, and the profile photo overlaps the bottom left. This maker centres your text inside the area that stays visible, and the safe-area overlay shows the crop zones.

How do I change my banner on X?

Open your profile, tap Edit profile, select the header image and upload the PNG.

Is the banner maker free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no signup and no upload.

Can I use my own background image?

Not in this tool. It's built for text-based headers on a dark background. Use a design app if you want a photo banner.
