Guides for this tool

X advanced search builder

Twitter advanced search without memorizing operators

X search understands operators such as from:, since:, min_faves: and filter:links, but you have to type them exactly, and X's own Advanced search form only opens from the search results page on desktop web. This builder gives you every common filter as a plain field, writes the query as you type and opens it on X in a new tab.

Pick a recipe to start, such as people asking for tool recommendations or viral posts on a topic, then change the words and accounts to fit your niche. Choose Top for the most engaged posts or Latest for the newest. Copy the finished query to reuse it on mobile, in X Pro or in your notes.

Everything runs in your browser. The builder doesn't call X or any other service, and nothing you type is sent anywhere until you choose to open the search on X.

How it works

How to use Twitter advanced search

Start broad, then add one filter at a time. Stacking every filter at once is the most common reason a search returns nothing.

01

Pick a recipe or start blank

Recipes fill the form with a realistic search. Swap in your own keywords and accounts.

02

Add words and accounts

Use exact phrases to cut noise, any-of words for different wording, and from:, to: or @ to target accounts.

03

Narrow with filters

Set minimum likes or replies, a date range, a language, links or media, and whether to drop replies or reposts.

04

Open it on X or copy it

Choose Top or Latest and open the search in a new tab, or copy the query to paste into any X search box.

Operator cheat sheet

The X search operators this builder writes

Each field maps to one operator. You can type these straight into X search too.

"exact phrase" and OR

Quotes match a phrase word for word. OR returns posts with either term, for example founder OR creator.

-word and #hashtag

A minus sign removes posts containing a word, such as -giveaway. #buildinpublic finds a hashtag.

from:, to: and @

from:levelsio finds posts by an account, to:stripe finds replies sent to it and @openai finds posts that mention it.

min_faves:, min_replies:, min_retweets:

Minimum likes, replies and reposts, such as min_faves:500, to surface posts that already got traction.

since: and until:

Dates in YYYY-MM-DD format. since:2026-01-01 starts on that day and until: returns posts before the day you set.

lang: and filter:

lang:en limits the language. filter:links, filter:media, filter:images and filter:videos keep only those posts, and -filter:replies drops replies.

Use cases

What people use advanced search for

Searches that pay off for creators, founders and marketers.

01

Finding buyers

Search for people asking for recommendations or alternatives in your category and reply while the question is fresh.

02

Content research

Pull posts on your topic with hundreds of likes to study which hooks and formats already work.

03

Competitor monitoring

Read what people say to and about a competitor, including complaints and feature requests.

04

Finding an old post

Combine from:, a few remembered words and a date range to find a post you can't scroll back to.

Responsible use

Results come from X

This tool only writes the query. X decides what the search returns, and operator support can differ between desktop web, the mobile apps and X Pro, so test important searches on desktop web first. Posts from protected accounts don't appear for people who don't follow them. Use what you find to join conversations, not to spam or harass people. Xholic AI is not affiliated with X Corp.

FAQ

Twitter advanced search FAQ

Operators, dates, accounts and why a search can come back empty.

Does Twitter advanced search still work?

Yes. X still supports search operators such as from:, since:, min_faves: and filter:links, and keeps an Advanced search form on desktop web, reached from the search results page while you're logged in. Support can vary between web, the mobile apps and X Pro, so test an important query on desktop web first.

How do I search tweets by date?

Add since:YYYY-MM-DD and until:YYYY-MM-DD to your search, for example since:2026-01-01 until:2026-03-31. The until: date is exclusive, so it returns posts from before that day. In this builder, set the From and To dates and the operators are added for you.

How do I search someone's tweets?

Use from:username with any keywords, such as from:paulg startups. Add since: and until: to limit the dates, or filter:links to see only posts where they shared a link. Enter the handle in From these accounts and the builder writes it for you.

Why does Advanced Search show no results?

Usually the query is too narrow or has a syntax slip: a wrong date format, a missing quote or parenthesis, or a lowercase or. Remove the engagement filters first, then the other filters one at a time. Very new posts can also take a while to show up, and protected accounts are hidden from people who don't follow them.

Can I search X without an account?

You can build and copy a query here without any account. X itself may ask you to log in before it shows search results, and its Advanced search form is documented as part of the logged-in desktop web experience.

Can I use search operators on mobile?

Yes. You can type or paste operators into the search box in the X app, but behavior can differ from desktop web. Copy the query from this builder and paste it into the app.

Is this tool free?

Yes. It's free, needs no signup and runs entirely in your browser.
