About Codex
What is Codex?
Codex is OpenAI's coding agent. It runs as a CLI, an IDE extension and inside the ChatGPT desktop app, reads your code and runs commands with your approval. Its MCP servers are shared across all three on the same computer, and it supports remote servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth login.
One setup, three places
Add Xholic once and it's in the Codex CLI, the IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app.
OAuth login
codex mcp login opens your browser to approve, so no key is pasted into a config file.
Works from code
Codex can read your repo and changelog and turn them into posts.

- In apps that can ask, every post and DM waits for your yes, showing exactly what goes out.
- Codex only sees the X accounts you tick.
- Everything it does is logged on its connection, with undo where X allows.
- Billing, X account connections and security settings stay inside the Xholic app.
- Disconnect it in one click from Settings → API / MCP / CLI.
FAQs
Codex and Xholic: questions
Setup, safety and pricing for using Xholic in Codex.
Does this also add Xholic to the ChatGPT desktop app?
Yes. Codex and the ChatGPT desktop app share MCP servers on the same computer, so Xholic shows up in both. It isn't added to chatgpt.com on the web; add it there in Plugins.
Codex says xholic isn't authenticated. What should I do?
Run codex mcp login xholic and approve in your browser. If you approved a different account, disconnect Codex in Xholic under Settings → API / MCP / CLI and log in again.
Is Xholic free to use with Codex?
Xholic has a 7-day free trial with no card needed. After that, the MCP server, API and CLI are included in every plan, from $19 a month. Codex does the writing on its own plan, so Xholic doesn't charge for its AI.
Does Codex need my X password?
No. You connect your X account to Xholic once through X's official sign-in. Codex then signs in to Xholic through your browser, so it never sees your X password or a key.
Can Codex post to X without asking me?
Only if you allow it. When you approve Codex you choose what it can do: read, write drafts and lists, and publish. Untick Publish and it asks you first with a one-click link. In apps that can show a confirmation, every post and DM waits for your yes and shows exactly what goes out. Authentication and permissions
Which X accounts can Codex use?
Only the ones you tick when you approve it, with one of them as the default. You can change that or disconnect Codex anytime in Xholic under Settings → API / MCP / CLI, and everything it does is logged there.
Works with your other AI too
Use Xholic in every agent you use
One Xholic account works in all of them at once, with the same voice, memory and queue. People who use Codex often also connect ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor.
