How to add the Xholic MCP server to Gemini CLI
Connect your X account to Xholic first (one click with X's official sign-in, during the free trial). Then:
Step 1: Add Xholic
Run this in your terminal. -s user makes Xholic available in every project.
Terminal gemini mcp add -s user --transport http xholic https://api.xholic.ai/mcpStep 2: Sign in
Start Gemini CLI. On first use it opens your browser to sign in to Xholic; if it doesn't, run /mcp auth xholic. Pick what it may do and which X accounts it can use, then approve.
Step 3: Ask Gemini
Ask: "Use Xholic: what should I post today?"
Gemini CLI · with Xholic
Use Xholic: look at the commits since Friday and tell me which one is worth a post.
- → get_writing_kit
- → check_draft
The caching change is your best story: 840 ms down to 120 ms. Here's a draft in your voice. It passed the writing check. Queue it for tomorrow at 9:15?

FAQs
Gemini CLI and Xholic: questions
Setup, safety and pricing for using Xholic in Gemini CLI.
Is Gemini CLI the same as the Gemini app?
No. Gemini CLI is Google's terminal agent, which supports remote MCP servers like Xholic. The Gemini chat app is a separate product.
Gemini CLI doesn't sign in to Xholic. What should I do?
Run /mcp to check xholic's status, then /mcp auth xholic to sign in again. Make sure you added it with --transport http; the default transport is for local servers.
Is Xholic free to use with Gemini CLI?
Xholic has a 7-day free trial with no card needed. After that, the MCP server, API and CLI are included in every plan, from $19 a month. Gemini CLI does the writing on its own plan, so Xholic doesn't charge for its AI.
Does Gemini CLI need my X password?
No. You connect your X account to Xholic once through X's official sign-in. Gemini CLI then signs in to Xholic through your browser, so it never sees your X password or a key.
Can Gemini CLI post to X without asking me?
Only if you allow it. When you approve Gemini CLI you choose what it can do: read, write drafts and lists, and publish. Untick Publish and it asks you first with a one-click link. In apps that can show a confirmation, every post and DM waits for your yes and shows exactly what goes out. Authentication and permissions
Which X accounts can Gemini CLI use?
Only the ones you tick when you approve it, with one of them as the default. You can change that or disconnect Gemini CLI anytime in Xholic under Settings → API / MCP / CLI, and everything it does is logged there.
Works with your other AI too
Use Xholic in every agent you use
One Xholic account works in all of them at once, with the same voice, memory and queue. People who use Gemini CLI often also connect Claude Code, Codex and Kimi Code.
