From views on @TheStalwart's original posts over the last 10 days, scaled to 30 days (about 22.4M views).
Rewards eligibility: likely
Rough estimate. X publishes no payout rate, so this assumes about $5–12 per 1M original-post impressions from reported creator payouts. Only Premium viewers’ impressions count, so real payouts can be much lower.

AI IS AMAZING I know it's hip to worry about the decline in book reading and how chatbots will impoverish our brains. But TBH, this is not at all what I see. I wrote about how we're in this wild moment for intellectual flourishing and how all of us are the children of dancers.

Look. I don’t want to overstate it. But when you look at contemporary SF — the cults of rationality and dialogue, powerful men having sex with their male mentees, an obsession with “first principles” thinking — it’s hard not to notice some parallels with ancient Athens.

The thing is. And this was a major 🔑 for me several years ago, in thinking about the podcast, is that communists are obsessed with capitalism. Some of them are so obsessed that they might even secretly love it. Whereas capitalists rarely spend any time thinking about it.

Great chart from Slok. Everybody knows that a very small % off companies are consuming the lion's share of token consumption What's interesting is that of those top 1% of spenders, they're overwhelmingly VC-backed companies. May have implications if VC-funding starts to slow.

Some centrists fantasize that because all LLMs have the ideology of Ezra Klein, that we may be on the doorstep of a great political moderation. I wrote about a fascinating paper from @ahall_research and Sho Miyazaki that, to my mind, opens the door to a very different outcome.

Tbh idk. But if Dario’s fear is misaligned ASI, then what’s so good about holding back Fable, or coming up with more aggressive bio classifiers? These things seem like a sideshow.

Good post here from Nathan. Sure, Anthropic has taken actions that may have cost it money. But in Dario’s post, there’s a conspicuous absence of any actual pacing or slowing progress towards RSI, despite a widespread view that “alignment” is nowhere close to being solved.

I’m really curious how big the market will actually be for true “frontier” intelligence. What does it say, for example, that there are brilliant physics PhDs for whom a tenure-track position at Calgary A&M is actually a good career outcome?

Learned some interesting details in this POLITICO story on @tysonbrody. But also I thought it missed a few important details, such as the fact that if you invite him over to your house, he will bring you a gigantic box of pandan-flavorted pastries

It was so wonderful catching up with @jeannasmialek, who we hardly ever see anymore since she left the Fed beat and decamped to Europe. During our conversation, I suddenly remembered that in 2002, Russell Roberts (host of the EconTalk podcast) also wrote a a romance novel.

BTW, if you're interested in Iian McGilchrist (and you should be), I really recommend you DO NOT watch the documentary that was made about him, which unfortunately made a complete hash out of his work.

Weird, everyone's saying that the rate decline has to do with prospect of an AI slowdown. And yet on the way up, everyone was saying the market was freaking out about the size of the debt. Make it make sense!

Why are rates lower today. But why? Sudden outbreak of fiscal optimism? Maybe overnight, people started feeling really good about the future of America? Or is it the slowing AI trade, and its implications for slower growth and lower inflation?

The definition of a tech company is a company whose stock goes up. The definition of an AI company is a company whose stock and whose CDS go up.
